Daily and alternate-day standing lines are billed monthly; there is no separate delivery charge on a dairy line.

A2, farm milk and packet milk — what the difference is really worth
Puducherry has a co-operative milk union, Ponlait, that supplies the town institutionally. Its packet milk is pasteurised, standardised, cheap, available everywhere and completely fine. If the honest answer for your household is "the packet is fine", take the packet and spend the difference on vegetables — we will deliver it at the printed rate and not try to talk you out of it.
The case for farm milk is narrower than the marketing around it suggests. What you are actually buying is unhomogenised milk from a named herd, delivered within a few hours of milking, which behaves differently in the kitchen: it separates a cream line at the top, it sets a firmer curd, and it makes better paneer and ghee. The A2 question — the beta-casein variant produced by indigenous breeds — is a real biochemical distinction and a contested health claim, and we are not going to pretend the science is settled. We sell A2 farm milk at ₹82 a litre because a meaningful number of Puducherry households want it and the small dairies in the Villianur belt produce it well, not because we think packet milk is dangerous.
The one thing worth being firm about: unhomogenised farm milk is a one-day product in this climate. It arrives between 7 and 8 am and it should be boiled the same morning. A dairy that tells you its raw farm milk keeps three days is either refrigerating it hard or overstating.
How the daily and alternate-day line works
Setting it up
- Tell us the item, the quantity and whether you want it daily, alternate days or on route days only
- Dairy is dropped first on every route, so a milk line arrives at the early end of your window
- A standing dairy line runs six days a week; Sunday is the one morning the van does not go out
- Pause by 8 pm the evening before — travelling for a fortnight costs one WhatsApp message
- Billed monthly on one consolidated invoice rather than per delivery
What we will not do
- Leave unrefrigerated milk at a door if nobody answers — it comes back and is not billed
- Sell raw milk as a three-day product; farm milk is same-day and we say so
- Claim A2 milk cures anything; it is a breed distinction, not a medicine
- Substitute commercial table eggs into a free-range line because the farm was short
- Carry paneer or curd on a route where the drop is after 11 am in May

Eggs: three tiers, and what the words on the tray mean
Egg labelling in India is close to unregulated at the retail end, so here is exactly what our three lines are.
Free-range, ₹120 a dozen. Birds with genuine outdoor access on bioregion and Villianur-belt smallholdings, in flocks small enough that we have counted them. Shells vary in size and colour because the birds vary. This is the tier where the price gap is real and where a household that cares should spend.
Farm brown, ₹96. Small-farm eggs from birds kept in sheds with outdoor runs but higher stocking density than the free-range line. Better than a commercial tray, not the same thing as free-range, and priced in between rather than sold as the top tier with a different photograph.
Table eggs, ₹78. Ordinary commercial layer-farm eggs. We carry them because plenty of households want a dozen eggs at the ordinary price and there is nothing wrong with that. They are never described as farm eggs on an invoice.
All three keep about two weeks unrefrigerated in a Puducherry kitchen and longer in a fridge. Eggs do not need to be washed before storage — the bloom on the shell is doing useful work — and a cracked egg in a tray should be used the same day or discarded.
Questions we answer daily
Do you deliver milk daily in Pondicherry?
Six mornings a week, Monday to Saturday, dropped first on the route so it reaches you at the early end of your 7–10 am or 8–11 am window. Sunday is the one morning the van does not run. A daily line is billed monthly on one invoice rather than charged per delivery.
How much is A2 cow milk in Puducherry?
₹82 a litre from small dairies in the Villianur belt, unhomogenised and delivered within a few hours of the morning milking. Buffalo milk is ₹76 a litre. Ponlait co-operative packet milk we deliver at the printed MRP, because there is no sensible margin to add to a packet everyone can buy at a shop.
Is there a delivery charge on a milk-only order?
A standing dairy line carries no separate delivery charge, which is the main reason households run milk and vegetables through the same route. A one-off order still needs the ₹300 household minimum, and delivery is free on any invoice of ₹500 and above.
How long does your farm milk keep?
One day. Unhomogenised farm milk delivered at 7 am should be boiled the same morning; in a Puducherry summer it will turn by the evening if it is not. Set curd keeps two days, fresh paneer two days, cultured butter about a week and ghee six months.
What makes your eggs free range?
Genuine outdoor access on bioregion and Villianur-belt smallholdings with flocks small enough for us to have counted, at ₹120 a dozen. We also carry farm brown eggs at ₹96 from higher-density sheds with runs, and ordinary commercial table eggs at ₹78. We never substitute one tier for another when a farm is short.
Can I pause my milk subscription?
Yes, by 8 pm the evening before, for as long as you like. A month away costs one WhatsApp message and there is no minimum term or reactivation fee. Pausing a dairy line does not pause a Pondy Fresh Box, and vice versa — tell us if you want both.
Do you deliver paneer and curd to restaurants?
Yes, on the standing trade line with a GST invoice, dropped before service. Paneer is made to order with no preservative and is a two-day product, so kitchens usually take it on three mornings a week rather than stocking it. Quantities above 5 kg need 48 hours' notice.
Do you sell Ponlait milk?
Yes, at the printed rate. Ponlait is the Puducherry co-operative milk producers' union and its packet milk is the sensible default for most households. We carry it on the same run as the farm milk so you can take both — packet for tea and coffee, farm milk for curd and paneer, which is what plenty of our customers actually do.
