The zone, street by street
Thavalakuppam runs south out of the city along the Cuddalore road, a spread-out southern zone that reaches to the Kirumampakkam edge and the streets curling back towards Ariyankuppam. It is the last scheduled zone before the Union Territory's district boundary — past here the van stops and the courier takes over. The ground is semi-coastal and semi-agricultural: fishing settlements and the harbour on one side, the Bahour and Kirumampakkam growing belt on the other.
Because it is strung out along one arterial road rather than packed into a grid, the zone takes the later 8 to 11 am window and two mornings a week, Monday and Thursday. Those are not arbitrary days. They are the mornings the van already drives south for the harbour run to Thengaithittu, so Thavalakuppam and Ariyankuppam are served off the same trip — which is exactly why the fish here is as fresh as it gets.
Closest to the boat and the coconut belt
Puducherry has roughly 45 km of coast and more than 25 sea fishing settlements along it, and the main fishing harbour at Thengaithittu is just north of this zone. On a route morning the van leaves at around 6 am, takes the catch off the day-boats first, and is in Thavalakuppam inside the hour. That short trip is the one real freshness advantage we can offer on these streets, and it is why day-boat sankara at ₹340 a kilo, cleaned and cut, is the line that actually sells here. The 6 pm seafood cutoff the evening before is tighter than the 8 pm grocery cutoff for a straightforward reason: nobody can promise a particular fish until the boats are in.
On the other side of the road is the growing belt. Coconut from Kirumampakkam is ₹38 a piece, and a good share of the everyday vegetables on this round — the keerai, the gourds, the tomatoes and greens — come from the Bahour and Kirumampakkam fields a few kilometres away, so they arrive with almost no distance on them. Between the harbour and the belt, this is the zone where "picked and landed this morning" is closest to literally true.
For packaged groceries, the city's 10-minute apps reach parts of this zone too, and we will not pretend to beat them on a forgotten packet of biscuits. Order us for the catch, the coconut, the belt vegetables and the weekly box, and let the apps have the rest.

Questions we answer daily
Which days do you deliver to Thavalakuppam?
Monday and Thursday, in an 8 to 11 am window, with an 8 pm cutoff the evening before — and a 6 pm cutoff for seafood, because the boats decide what can be promised. The zone runs south along the Cuddalore road to the Kirumampakkam edge, sharing its two mornings with the Ariyankuppam harbour run.
Is the fish fresher here because you are near the harbour?
Yes, in a real sense. The van heads south at about 6 am and passes the Thengaithittu landing before it reaches this zone, so the catch has the shortest possible trip to your door. Seafood orders close at 6 pm the evening before, and day-boat sankara, cleaned, is Rs 340 a kilo.
What is the minimum order and the delivery charge?
A Rs 300 minimum per delivery, free delivery once your invoice reaches Rs 500, and a flat Rs 40 below that. The same terms apply as the rest of Puducherry city — the two-mornings-a-week schedule is about distance, not a different price.
Do you deliver to Cuddalore or across the district line from here?
Not on a scheduled van yet — Thavalakuppam is the last zone before the district boundary. Rice, millets, pulses and oils ship to Cuddalore and Villupuram by prepaid courier in 3 to 5 days. A proper run opens when about 15 households in one locality are waiting; tell us yours and it counts as a vote.
When does the weekly box arrive in Thavalakuppam?
Thursday mornings in the 8 to 11 am window. The Small Box at Rs 499 is the common size — eight everyday vegetables, two bunches of keerai or herbs and about a kilo of seasonal fruit for two people — and it arrives with the same van that brings the day's catch up from the harbour.
Do you sell Kirumampakkam coconut and local vegetables?
Yes. Coconut from the Kirumampakkam belt is Rs 38 a piece, and much of the everyday veg on this round is grown in the Bahour and Kirumampakkam belt a few kilometres away, so it reaches this zone with very little distance on it. Order on a route day, Monday or Thursday.
Can I get a same-day or afternoon delivery?
On a route day, yes. An order placed before 11 am on a Monday or Thursday can join the 4 to 7 pm top-up run in this zone. Otherwise the next route morning is the earliest, and with only two mornings a week here it pays to get the order in before the 8 pm cutoff.
Why only two mornings a week in this zone?
Because it is a spread-out southern zone at the edge of the route. Two mornings, Monday and Thursday, in the 8 to 11 am window, pair with the Ariyankuppam harbour trip the van is already making. A denser schedule becomes viable as more households here sign up — the same way every other zone grew.
